Eclipse
Oil on canvas 16" X 20"
On October 14, 2023, the moon came between the Earth and the sun. "Don't look directly at the sun with unprotected eyes." The air was enchanting as it stirred the leaves with a hush, their edges sharply defined in the shadows. I wanted to hold onto the moment, but the seconds slipped through my grasp, and the magic was gone.

Somewhere Down the Road
Oil on canvas 20" X 16"
set in a mahogany frame
A majestic sky provokes awe within me as the gentle breeze tickles the back of my neck and causes the grasses to bend softly. The horses meander through the lush forage, comically competing for the best plot.
Somewhere Down the Road was juried into the "Best and Brightest" Show and Sale in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the Scottsdale Artist School from February 9th - March 12, 2026. It was also featured on the Scottsdale Artist School's website during that exhibition.

Fancy Work
Oil on canvas 20" X 16"
set in a barn wood frame
I enjoy photographing at family brandings. This big gelding was by no means a show horse but he caught my eye non the less. The painted coat was kind of fancy compared to the solids that usually turned up. He was cool headed and appeared to be a trustworthy mount.

Brass in Pocket
Oil on canvas 20" X 16"
set in a barn wood frame
I have been told by at least 3 people that this looked like a self portrait. It didn't start out that way but i do admit that it does resemble me from a few years back. I wish that I had her attitude and her chaps ;)

Twilight Approaches
Oil on canvas 10' X 10"
These moments pass quickly. Summer's dry grasses and the thick, waxy leaves of the oaks do their best to hang onto the fading light of the sun. The air becomes soft with the hush of the cooing dove. A gentle rustle of the brittle brush can be heard as a horse saunters by. The day gives space for the night when all will grow quiet and sleep.

The Third Braid
Acrylic on Canvas 16" x 20"
set in a black rustic wood frame
At family brandings, when I'm not horseback or helping on the ground, I enjoy photographing the action.
Here a handy teenage girl makes adjustments to her hondo and loop. She is confident in her seat and trusting in her mount who waits patiently.
The Third Braid was juried into the Arts Council of Kern's Best of Kern art show and received 2nd place for the 5th district.

All Casual

24" X 24" X 1.5"
This colt, Gus, had a unique and colorful personality. Always in your business until you wanted to be in his. His weak spot was getting scratches. If he was getting his chest scratched you could pet him anywhere.

In Flight

This filly glides through the air at a point of momentary suspension between the beats of the trot.
